Since all of my very best friends and I will be heading for college in a little bit less than a month, I have put together these little tips so we can all make it back together for Christmas break!

I've gather the tips below from a variety of resources.  Of course, most will apply to everyone, several to others and not us personally, and few to nobody.

  1. Take as many pairs of underwear as you can afford or take.  [That's so you don't smell like dirty butt.]

  2. Put some thought into packing for school.  [Only pretty clothes will guarantee you to spend more money away from home.]

  3. Bring lots of pictures of family and friends.  [Everyone will get homesick from time to time.  And DON'T FORGET THE PICTURE OF ME!]

  4. Be ready to change your major a million times.

  5. Buy lots and lots of socks if you think you'll lose them.

  6. Don't withdraw more money than you need.

  7. Learn to balance a checkbook.  [Stephanie I hope you remember from Business Math...]

  8. Don't BOUNCE CHECKS!

  9. Learn to fall asleep with the lights on.  [I've already mastered that skill from sleeping in Mr. Little and Mr. Hood's class. :)]

  10. Begin budgeting the minute you get in the car to leave for college.

  11. Write ALL your assignments down.  [You are always bound to forget one or two.]

  12. Due dates are closer than they seem.  [Start on that big report IMMEDIATELY!]

  13. Realize that registering for class will NOT take a minute.

  14. Never leave your wash unattended.  [There just might be someone looking for your dirty socks and undy.]

  15. Avoid the vending machines.

  16. If offered an on-campus job, take it.

  17. Read textbooks!  [Don't cheat by using Spark Notes or Cliff Notes.]

  18. Join whatever clubs you may have time for.

  19. Cheer for your school's Football team.

  20. Don't borrow things without asking.  [That would be considered stealing.]

  21. Whenever a professor offers office hours, visit him/her.

  22. Stay in touch with old friends and family.  [Let them know how you are doing and if you need any help with anything.]

  23. Bring a set of formal attire in case of need.

  24. Learn to negotiate conflicts with roommate(s) and other people.

  25. No matter how tired you are, always brush your teeth before sleeping. [The dentist sucks!]

  26. Read the school newspaper or listen to the school radio.

  27. Always lock your room door. [DUH!]

  28. Take a class for fun.

  29. It's okay to cry.  [I do it all the time.]

  30. Be confident and happy with yourself.  [Don't change for other people, unless for the better.]
